This month's blog may read more as a journal entry, as I navigate this journey of wellness myself.
Dear Diary,
I'm doing all the right things, but I'm not feeling inspired right now in my workouts and I want to shake things up!
Sound familiar? I think it's totally normal to feel "stuck" sometimes. It's so easy to lose that momentum, or even if you've been trucking along, sometimes suddenly that tried-and-true routine just doesn't seem to cut it anymore.
I like to think about that quote from Einstein: "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
This quote helps simplify what might at first feel like an unsolvable problem. Approach your wellness and exercise as an experiment. Have some fun trying something new! If you hate it, well, now you know. Or, you might surprise yourself! Give a new class a try, or maybe even switch out the time of day you workout, to see if that makes a difference in how you feel.
Lately, I've been adding heavier weights to my workouts, just because I honestly never have?! I'm a big lover of my 2 and 3 lb weights (they are great-I still love those lil' guys!!), but I started to wonder what would happen if I made my workouts a little different. Guess what?! It has made me feel challenged in a new way, and brought renewed excitement to my exercise.
I often find, when I make a little shift in one area of my life, it can carry over to other places as well. It's good to shake things up! It helps build confidence, and encourages us to keep growing and learning about ourselves. I know this goes without saying but I"m going to say it anyhow: we are all so different, and our bodies all need different things. It is up to us to learn how best to take care of these bodies we have, and by trying something new, you're just going to gain more information that will help you in your wellness journey.
This is, of course, something I would love to help you with! If you're already taking privates with me, let me know if you're needing a little shake-up! We can add a prop, or figure out someway to try what we've been working on differently. Challenge your brain and body. And if you haven't been working with me yet, maybe it's time to give it a try! I always encourage people to give the 30 minute virtual private a try. It is such a fun way to get your workout mojo moving again and reignite that excitement for movement.
So go try something new this week...or if that feels too "big", then maybe just do something you already do a little bit differently. See what happens! Be proud of yourself for giving it a try. See where it leads to next...
