Setting Intentions for the New Year

There will be nothing in this blog post that you probably don't already know...but wait! Don't let that stop you from reading further. The purpose of this post? It is a nudge, and encouragement, and a reminder that it is important for us to take a few moments to reflect, and set some new goals for ourselves. No matter how big or small. And maybe today is the day!

I hosted an event recently. We gathered for a 40 minute Pilates mat class, we enjoyed a little community, and we shopped in the boutique that hosted us. Each lady left with a goodie bag, and one thing inside was an intention card with a few basic prompts. And a pen. I was trying to keep this as easy for them as possible! No excuses, just sit down for 5 minutes and dedicate some time for themselves.

I personally think setting goals and intentions at the very start of the New Year can be so daunting. We just came off the holidays, and also that weird week in between Christmas and New Years...I'm personally just not at my best mentally. January feels to me like a month of rest and reset. But I do start to stir a little near the end of the month...and that seems to be a good time to finally settle in for some deeper reflection.

I took a few moments myself today to fill out this card, and I encourage you to do the same sometime this week. It took me 5 minutes, and then I tucked my card away for safe keeping, so that I can take a look maybe in July to remind myself to stay on track as the summer sun is shining upon me;). Take a look below at the picture to see the prompts I used, or here they are:

My top goals:

My biggest challenges:

I want less....

I want more...

I'm most excited for:

I want to experience:

That's it. Go as deep as you want, or keep it light and simple. Write it down, though. Writing is so powerful, and nowadays especially, we just don't use pen to paper nearly enough.

Ok, that's it. I told you....not too much breakthrough info here, just a little encouragement. I hope you take a little time to pour into yourself. I'm cheering for you!
